The S.A.B.R.E. Force are a private police force financed by Memorize.[3]
Biography
Establishment
The earliest form of the S.A.B.R.E. Force presumably appeared around 2041 following the fall of the French Government.[1] Memorize's collaboration with the military may have also given rise to the S.A.B.R.E. Force as it was known and widely identified in Neo-Paris.[3]
S.A.B.R.E. Force are used by Memorize to maintain order and "quiet" throughout Neo-Paris.[4] The S.A.B.R.E. Force are covered head to toe in riot gear used for both their protection and the suppression of their targets.
In light of the Law of the Stone Age, S.A.B.R.E. Force do not use firearms but electrified batons and 3C Shields. S.A.B.R.E. Force carry out atypical police work; investigating murders, arresting the disorderly, aiding lost individuals and guarding private and government property.
Events of Remember Me
In 2084, the S.A.B.R.E. Force were tasked to hunt down all of the Errorists, following the death of their commander, Frank Forlan. The city-wide manhunt for his killer not only led to the major arrests of the Errorist members[5], but eventually led them to Nilin Cartier-Wells, Forlan's killer.[6]
When Nilin escaped the Bastille, she was hunted mercilessly by numerous S.A.B.R.E. Force members. Chief among them was Sergeant Vaughn, who is suggested to have had a hand in abusing Nilin during her imprisonment[7], and Captain Gabriel Trace, who planned on killing Nilin instead of arresting her, even if she surrendered "peacefully".[8]
Nilin, requiring the memories of both individuals to reach higher levels of the Bastille and the Memorize Head Office and Mnemopolis, fights and defeats both. However, of the two of them, Gabriel Trace (who was succumbing to symptoms of Leaperism), was killed by Mourners who stole his memory.[9] Nilin was able to beat both Mourners and retrieve the memories of Trace, which allowed her access into the Conception Cube, where Charles Cartier-Wells' resided.[10]
Characteristics
Appearance
S.A.B.R.E. Force suits have been adapted for different areas throughout Neo-Paris, and signified by color schemes. S.A.B.R.E. Force Enforcers employed at the La Bastille Fortress wear dark brown and orange combat gear.[4] Standard Enforcers wear black combat gear, and the Elite Enforcers are marked by their white combat gear, which is electrified.[8]
